Day 8-Czech Rep. Plzen-Praha :
Complete Log entry for Christian

The days are all blending together but the biking is starting to get interesting. I can finally lift my head to look around. The hills are low and rolling but they are closely spaced so I can use the momentum from the downs to get up the other side. The sun hurts my arms and I wish that there would be something between rain and scorching sun.

Prague is a huge city that just comes out of nowhere from the Czech hills. I wondered if I would ever find Emmanuelle or not but I did. We spent a couple of hours in the dense rain looking for a place to stay that wouldn’t cost a lot. We stopped to ask one man and he said that it was 180 euros a night. I had caught his attention because the bikes rolled across a clean red carpet where he had his trolley to carry the bags.

We found that you can rent a whole apartment in town for next to nothing. I'm not really sure how this works but we went for it and it turned out to be a great place with hard wood floors and despite being on the fourth floor, it had an elevator.

Life will be good for a couple of days here and I can give my muscles a good rest from the pushing that I have been doing.

My muscles consistently remind me that I am 30 years old and I should be resting more on my vacations but the fatigue I feel reminds me of the trips I have done with nothing more than a backpack and a map.

Anyway we went for diner in a little cafe in the center of town where we were entertained by the locals who played their bohemian music and dressed in their ethnic local clothing. It was great but it showed that it was just for the tourists. Kind of a production show. There were too many tourists to get a taste of the town so we went to our little apartment to get some well earned rest.
